Peugeot 206 CC

he 205, which was launched in 1983, became the definite small Euro hatchback over a 15 year production run that saw over 5 million examples sold. It is widely held that Peugeot management avoided the tricky business of replacing the 205 by simply avoiding the issue. Instead, it launched the tiny 106 City car in 1991 and the bigger 306 in 1993, which was aimed at the lucrative upscale hatchback market dominated by the VW Golf. However, the trusty 205 remained in production after the launch of the 306, and the sales proved that buyers were still very keen on a supermini of this size. However, as the 306 arrived in the showroom, Peugeot turned its attention to finally replacing the ageing 205 with a much more modern car. The new model was a significant investment for Peugeot, as it was a unique model, with no Citroen sister car to help spread the investment load. The 206 was neatly compact and benefitted from a modern interpretation of the 205’s classic pert looks. It was launched in late 1998 and annual sales rocked through the 500,000 barrier, peaking at 707,000 in 2001. Peugeot also rolled production out across the world, with factories in Brazil, Argentina, China, Iran as well as in France.

The company also exploited the 206 chassis by launching a folding roof version, a small estate, a small saloon and a van version. In 2005, it became Peugeot’s bestselling car ever. However, by early 2008, two and a half years after the launch of its 207’replacement’, 206 production had totaled 6.2 million units, with few signs of the little car being pensioned off. Remarkably, Peugeot had managed to replace the 205 with a car that was even more successful.

Get for instance the drooping taillights that seem additional befitting a Chinese automobile than 1 built in Germany, or the peculiar concave curves around the doorways that seems caught on as opposed to an integral part of the style. Otherwise it is rather fantastic seeking, although maybe far more something Infiniti would produce than Volkswagen.

Peugeot 207 CC Photos

Peugeot 207 CC, Peugeot has announced that the new 207 CC will be available at it’s European launch with two petrol engines and one diesel engine. All models will be front-wheel drive, however the diesel engine is not a certainty just yet, and will likely to be offered some time after the vehicle’s launch in Australia.

The entry-level engine is called the EP6, a 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with 16-valves and able to output a maximum 90kW (120hp) and 160Nm of torque. Peugeot says the EP6 is the second engine created from the co-operation between PSA Peugeot Citroën and the BMW Group, and is also used in the Mini Cooper, and key features include a ‘very’ flat torque curve with 88% of it’s total torque attainable from 2000rpm.

Power: 90kW @ 6000rpm
Torque: 160Nm @ 4250rpm
0-100km/h: 10.7 seconds
The range-topping power house engine is internally known as the EP6DT, which is the same 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that gives the much-admired Mini Cooper S it’s tenacious spirit with 110kW (150hp). Peugeot says the new turbo 1.6 offers effortless driveability thanks to its maximum torque of 240Nm from an engine speed of only 1400rpm, and that due to its innovative twin-scroll turbocharger, variable valve timing system and direct petrol injection, it’s also a very fuel efficient petrol engine.

Power: 110kW @ 5800rpm
Torque: 240Nm @ 1400rpm
0-100km/h: 8.6 seconds

Peugeot Australia has indicated that the 1.6-litre diesel engine will be offered on 207 hatch models Down Under, so this could be taken that the 207 CC will get the engine as well, but nothing is set in stone as yet. Called the DV6TED4, the 1.6-litre HDi diesel engine whacks out 82kW (110hp), which should provide a useful mixture of performance and low fuel consumption.
Power: 82kW @ 4000rpm
Peugeot have been in the coupe cabriolet business for some time, during the 1930s Peugeot made a name for themselves as the world’s number one producer of coupe cabriolets – but that was nearly 80 years ago.

Skipping a few decades to 2001, Peugeot launched the 206 CC. Starting from just $37,990, the 206 CC went on to become of Australia’s best selling convertibles with a worldwide sales figure of 360,000 units to date.

With the 206 CC starting to show its age, Peugeot began working on a successor, named 207 CC. And as of this week the new 207 CC has gone on sale.
The 1.6 litre unit has a fuel economy of 6.5 l/100km, with award winning emission ratings. Meanwhile the turbo-charged 1.6 litre 110kW (240Nm of torque) ‘THP’ engine, sourced from the 207 GT hatchback delivers power from an incredibly low 1400 rpm. Built with the help of BMW and Citroen the 1.6-litre turbo was recently voted best in its category at the International Engine of the Year Awards.Of course, for a coupe cabriolet, its all about style. The new electric folding roof for the 207 CC has taken put Peugeot alongside the best from Europe. With a completely automated operation (hold the bottom down for 25 seconds), the new roof system is a big improvement over the 206 CC which required the use of manual release handles.
Back in the 1930s (and all the way to the early 80s), accidents in roofless cars significantly increased fatality rates, eventually manufacturers started taking notice. The 207 CC comes standard with an active roll-over protection system.

Peugeot had to go back to the drawing board to specifically design two new airbags for the 207 CC, the car comes standard with four airbags, two adaptive front airbags and two ‘head-chest’ side airbags located in the side of the front seats.

Other standard safety features include:

ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution,
Emergency Brake Assist

The 1.6-litre turbo also gets ESP including traction control as standard. Unfortunately the naturally aspirated variant does not come with ESP standard.Peugeot claims the 207 CC has rear seats that are actually usable.

The naturally aspirated variant is available in a 5-speed manual (with the option of a four-speed auto using Porsche Toptronic technology) while the performance 1.6-litre turbo only comes in manual guise

2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45

2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45
The Ferrari sports car was build for Peter Kalikow, a Ferrari collector from New York, the rich people, who is a real estate entrepreneur, to celebrate that he’s a Ferrari client and driver for 45 years. The Ferrari Superamerica 45 is styled internally by Ferrari Design and engineered and built in-house. The sports car features an unique roof system which opens the roof-top by fliping it backwards.
2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45
The Special Projects Ferrari Superamerica 45 is a unique one-off model. The 2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45 model was built in-house and styled internally by Ferrari Design, making its public debut on the 20th of May at the Villa d'Este Concorso d'Eleganza. When open, the roof is housed by an entirely new boot, while the design appears to be bespoke, featuring a carbon-fiber rotating hard-top which integrates a rear screen.
The 2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45 is built around an aluminium spaceframe chassis similar to the limited production 599 Aperta roadster. Power comes from the very potent V12 also used in the 599 GTO. Based on the engine originally used for the Enzo, it produces well over 650 bhp. This is transferred to the rear wheels by a semi-automatic gearbox, which is operated by paddles behind the steering wheel. Carbon ceramic discs ensure that the 2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45 can slow down as fast as it can accelerate.
2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45
Like 400 Superamerica Cabriolet, the new 2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45 is finished in a lovely metallic blue paint, which is further accentuated by blue carbon-fibre sections and polished aluminium A-pillars and wing mirrors. Additional vents in the front wings and a spoiler on the tail set the car further apart from the 'standard' 599. The latter was a necessary addition to create sufficient downforce and stability at high speeds. The interior is refined by a carefully selected combination of Cuoio leather trim and Blu Scuro carbon fiber details. The driver will also enjoy a latest-generation touch-screen infotainment system.
2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45
While the 2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45 did make its public debut at Villa d'Este, it was not yet officially delivered. Ever the perfectionist, Kalikow pointed out several details that still need changing before the car is really 'ready'. Among them were the lining on the roof, which will most likely be changed to the same tan leather as the rest of the interior and the door handles, which still need to receive the Kalikow's initials as previously seen on the 612 Kappa.
2011 Ferrari Sport Cars Superamerica 45
When Kalikow does take official delivery of the car, he intends to use it extensively on the road, like he does with a vast majority of the fabulous Ferraris in his collection. We, particularly, can't wait to see the Superamerica 45 next to the 400 Superamerica Cabriolet that inspired this project.
